Give the Gift of Education

Building a school one block at a time.

Education is a privilege every child in Haiti wants. Often we take for granted that schools are located close to our homes. Unfortunately, the journey to school for the children of Savannette Haiti is a long walk down the mountain and across the river to the city of Jacmel. Too far to walk on a daily basis, it becomes necessary to find families in the city for the children to stay with. Often times during the rainy season the river becomes impassable and the children cannot return home to be with their families, even on the weekends. For this reason H3O Hands Helping Haiti is in the process of building a much needed school for the local community of Savannette.

Nine centieme (2 1/2 acres) of land has been purchased and a security wall already constructed. The building of the actual school has an estimated cost of $60,000. This seems like a daunting task, but with your help this can be realized one block at a time. Each gift of $5 purchases one hand made concrete block. Everything big is achieved through small steps. Help us make big things happen one block at a time.

Donation gift cards are available to give as gifts for any occasion such as birthdays, anniversaries, holidays or any event. To purchase blocks or gift cards contact us.

Pig Distribution

Pigs can be a source of income for Haitian families. If there is an event that requires money such as a wedding or funeral, or even sending a child to school, a pig can be sold to pay for the event. In June 2004, H3O purchased 6 pigs with donated money which were distributed to 6 families in rural Cyvadier with the agreement that ½ their first litter would be given away to other needy families without a pig. Some of these pigs have since had their first litter and the babies shared with others in the community will also be required to share 1/2 their first litter. And so on it will continue. This program is showing so much success that we decided to extend it to the families in the mountains purchasing 7 pigs for distribution there on our February 2005 trip and 5 more in July 2005. The people of Haiti have expressed such gratitude for this program that we will continue to do more as money is available to do so.

Water Reservoir

Running water is only found in homes of the wealthy. The masses do not have access to clean drinking water. Most families are forced to walk long distances to local rivers or watering stations for water needed for cooking, laundry, bathing and drinking. For this reason H3O this past February 2005 built a water reservoir in the mountains of Savannette with monies donated. This reservoir will benefit many area families. Now these families no longer have to walk miles down a mountain to gather water and return home carrying heavy loads of water back up the mountains. Their gratitude was greatly expressed. This too will be a project we hope to duplicate as funds are available to do so.

Mironda Heston Medical Clinic

As we continue to see that Mironda's dream of the medical clinic be a service for the community in Papaye, we have taken lab equipment, medical supplies, and medications to the clinic. March of each year will be our annual medical mission. Each year we will take a team of professionals to help with what ever needs the clinic may have. Our doctors, nurses, working along side of local doctors and nurses to provide the best possible medical care for the people of Papaye. Please brows through the pictures of some of our team members and also some of the patients we have been able to help. As with any medical care, the costs can be overwhelming. Please consider donating to help with these expenses.

Lionel's Miracle!

This is an article that was written in the Lumiere Medical Ministries year end news letter. This was a gentleman that we saw at Mironda’s clinic in Haiti last March. What a blessing it was to be a part of the miracle performed in his life. Thank you to everyone here, who has made this possible. There is no better way of telling the Haitian people that God loves them than by providing the help they need.
