What makes Hands Helping Haiti different than other childcare organizations?
A sponsor is someone like you who has made the decision to personally invest in the life of a child in need. As a sponsor you enable your child to participate in life changing programs, including education, health care, and social skills. And more than this, you can help your sponsored child develop a sense of confidence and self-worth with the love you express through letters and prayers. Your child will have only one sponsor, and that is you. You are assured that there is a real connection between you and the specific child you support. The child you sponsor will know your name, write to you and benefit directly from your monthly sponsorship.

The cost to sponsor a child is only $25 per month. You may also pay $75 quarterly or $300 yearly. We would like to have payments by the 15th of each month so that we have time to get payments to Haiti by the 1st.

The child you sponsor will receive opportunities that most of Haiti's poorest children will simply never see. The opportunity to receive an education. This includes providing the cost of school fees, clothing and supplies. Many school also offer a hot meal each day. For many children this maybe the only hot meal they eat for that day. The opportunity to be healthy. Children will be taught about hygiene and how to maintain personal health. We are planning future clinics to educate the children and their families on aids awareness and also other health issues.

The child you sponsor is depending on you. While it is our hope that you will be able to support your sponsored child until he or she finishes school, we realize that circumstances sometimes change. You may discontinue your sponsorship at any time. We would appreciate notice so that we may look for a new sponsor for your child, so that he or she may continue with school without interruption.

We would encourage you to send your sponsored child a short letter telling a little bit about yourself and your family. We also think it would be beneficial to send a photo of yourself and family. We have interpreters who will translate your letter and deliver it to your child. You may write to your child as often as you like. Many children in poverty feel unloved and worthless. Your letters will not only encourage you child, but will also give them self confidence knowing that someone besides their family truly cares. Your child will also write to you. Our interpreters will help the children who are not able to do so themselves. You may also send small gifts to your child for special occasions, to help with specific needs, or just simply as an act of love. Letters to your child should be sent to the following name and address:
Elysee Guerrier

Please contact Hands Helping Haiti for the best way to send gifts (jewelry cannot be sent through the mail. Special postage is required to mail to Haiti).

Our program is set up to meet the needs of each individual child and family. We know each child and his or her family will see that your sponsorship money is given directly to that family. We feel that by giving directly to the family, we are better able to know their individual needs and can respond to each situation. We would like our sponsorship program to be more personal and allow you to really get to know your child and their families. Your sponsorship will profoundly change the future of your own life in the process.
